Stator Question

I sold a guy a stator he has a 2006 here is the text I got just a little bit ago.

Hey what's up. I think I confused you, the stator has 4 wires coming out, which my old one has 5 wires. They all plug in and I have an extra from the harness it is green and white, I think it might be for the headlight?

Anyone know how to make that older stator work with the newer harness?

The newer blaster CDI has a separate ground coming from the source coil (the one that generates the power for the spark) to help "clean up" any noise that could cause the CDI to not time the spark correctly.  The older stator plates, the "positive" wire of the coil goes to the wiring harness (the black and red wire) and the "negative" wire goes to the stator plate (to act as the ground). 
 
The newer ones, the green and white wire is the ground for the source coil run into the harness.  You can (with relative ease, a solder iron, and some patience) turn a 4 wire stator into a 5 wire stator without too much headache by snipping off the ring terminal of the ground wire and soldering on a loose ~18 gauge wire onto it and running that wire out through the wire loom with the rest (make sure to tuck it properly with the rest of them so that it won't get caught in the flywheel!) and putting a "bullet" connector on the end to plug into the harness.

He may not be upto hacking into the source coil on that stator plate.... but at least you've got the information!

You can EASILY use a newer stator (5 wire) on an older blaster (4 wire) by simply hooking the green/white wire coming out of the stator bundle to a solid ground on the frame.  It will work exactly as intended...

Yeah, I dunno if he will try it or not if anything I can do it for him if it comes down to it save him the headache lol
