General Discussion / Re: What's up fellas?
Last post by Corey -
Thread revival. It has definitely been some time since I've visited the ole forums. It's crazy to think how different it was just a few years ago. Spent lots of time on BF, E2S, and then this one. I think most of us were on every day haha. Times have changed for sure. So what's everybody been up to?

Wow man, it's been a while! Great to see you around. It's pretty slow around here nowadays but I keep the forum maintained and running. While there's not a lot of posts, there's still a lot of visits and downloads. How have you been? It has to have been like 4-5 years.

Requests / Re: 1999 polaris sportsman 500 HO service manual
Last post by Corey -
Does anyone by chance have the service manual for a 1999 polaris sportsman 500 HO? I bought the quad used, and the prior owner didn't have anything on it at all, I'm like the 4th owner in. Thanks in advance!

This thread here should have a service manual for that quad - https://thequadconnection.com/polaris/t/19962003_sportsman_400_and_500_service_manual_814.0.html

Announcements / Updated Forum Software
Last post by Corey -
Brief announcement that I updated the forum software to the latest version. This is a security release which patches a handful of security flaws in the previous versions. In addition, I purged several entries in the TQC database that were no longer needed. I also reconfigured file permissions and performed some general optimizations to the forum software.

Keep on keepin' on.

Announcements / ElkArte 1.1.1 & The Future of TQC
Last post by Corey -
The Quad Connection went through a major software upgrade this week. The forum software, ElkArte, was updated to the latest version, 1.1.1. This is a major revision release, meaning some features were not compatible. The version we were on, 1.0.* was no longer supported by the developer.

This major revision broke some features, mainly the shoutbox. This is not a big concern to me, since logs show it was very infrequently used. It also fixed some issues, like the error message upon logging in.

I know not many new posts are made on this forum, but I plan to keep it alive for the foreseeable future. My other web endeavors more than pay for the server I use to host all of my public facing content. Until The Quad Connection starts costing me significant amounts of money, it will continue to live. Despite not a lot of new content being added, thousands of guest users visit the website every week. If I/we can help that many people, I call it a win.

Let me know if there's any issues with the new software. It looks like everything should be working properly.
